Reckless Driver Reportedly At Fault for Fatal Collision

According to the Hudson Valley Post, a young woman was killed after her black Ford Edge was struck by an Audi A6 on Route 59 near Broome Blvd in Central Nyack. The impact from the collision forced the vehicles over a curb and into the parking lot of the Hub Shopping Center. The young woman was transported to a local hospital, later succumbing to her injuries.

The driver of the Audi, a 24-year-old from New Jersey, was arrested after being treated for injuries. Witnesses report that the “Audi was driving erratically” prior to the collision. He was charged with multiple counts, including criminally negligent homicide and reckless driving.

The deadly Rockland County crash occurred on Tuesday, May 30, at around 7:15 pm. The Clarkstown Police Department is seeking the help of witnesses or people with video footage of the accident, according to the article.

Determining Liability in Car Accident Cases

Many car accidents are caused by a motorist’s careless or negligent operation of their vehicle. Reckless driving is a common cause of collisions. It can have devastating consequences, including serious injuries and wrongful death.

Individuals involved in a car accident are encouraged to consult with an attorney to determine their legal options. Depending on the circumstances of the case, individuals or their families may be entitled to compensation for their injuries. In the State of New York, you generally have three years to file a claim for personal injury and two years from the date of your loved one’s death to file a lawsuit based on wrongful death.
